I can’t believe that the first week is already done! It flew by! Here’s a little snippet of what a typical day will look for me here:

  • wake up at 4:50 am
  • personal devotion time 5-7am
  • get ready 7-8am
  • breakfast 8:00am
  • group devotions 8:30am
  • ministry starts 9:30ish?- this can look like working on the farm here, prayer walking/house visits, hospital visits, visiting widows, working in the kitchen, or it can be something we didn’t plan for.. such as cleaning out peoples flooded houses after we got 2 feet of rain (:
  • lunch 12:00pm
  • afternoon ministry begins 1:00pm- this can look similar to morning ministry, it all just depends on what you did in the morning- for example, if you worked on the farm in the morning, you’ll go off campus and do community work.
  • Book review 4:00pm
  • dinner 5:00pm
  • then we have team time at some point after dinner

Wednesdays and Fridays are special for me here because on those days we do a couple of specific ministries: Wednesday evenings part of my team and I go to a micro church (a small house church) and we get to share with the group and be in close community with our church family. Fridays are what we call dump days, we have the opportunity to go to the dump and share a message with a bunch of local people and also serve a meal.

Saturdays are special too.. on Saturdays we have our sabbath. We take these days to rest in the Lord and be filled so we can go out and fill others.

Then Sundays are our adventure days! We are able to go out with our team and do some fun things! Yesterday (9/22) our team spent the day at Volcanic crater lake and swam, ate lunch, and just enjoyed each others company.

I have learned so much this first week through ministry! First off, be grateful!! Seeing the area here has reminded me of how blessed I am! As my teammate & friend Maddi said the other day, “All the things I think I need are actually just wants.” (Psalm 16:5).

Secondly, I feel like I’ve been stretched so much in my faith. From doing prayer walks, to sharing scripture, to learning new things about the Word.. I feel a lot of growth happening. I’m excited to see how I keep growing these next 3 weeks in Nicaragua!

A couple of prayer requests:

  1. Continued good health for our team!
  2. Continued learning/understanding of spanish for me!
  3. Pray that I would continue to hear the voice of the Lord!

Thank you for reading!
