Hope you are doing well as the weather is getting warmer.
Monday-Training, about becoming Gods friend.
Tuesday-Hiked to Chimachoy to help with soccer practice and attempted some house visits. But most people were not home. Then hiked back and worked on shoveling dirty at the prayer mountain.
Wednesday-The Gap squad from the same organization joined us in shoveling dirty and digging a well. Then we got to fellowship with them in the afternoon.
Thursday- The same squad came and we worshipped with them. Then had a cookout. Then we started our sabbath in the afternoon. After sabbath we went to a coffee shop and worshipped there.
Friday-Sabbath in the morning. In the afternoon we cheered on Chimachoy’s soccer tournament. It was such an amazing experience. They went from losing 8 to 0 to placing 2nd in the tournament.
Saturday-came to Antigua and did one on one with my squad leader. Then in the afternoon we went to worship and heard a message from one of my teammate.
Sunday-House church in the morning. In the afternoon we just relaxed.
Community living is a challenge! Not something that I’m used to doing back in the States. I did a lot of things by myself. Here, we never get lone time besides in the restroom. We must have at least one other person whenever we go anywhere. Community living means that it’s not just about me or what I want or feel.
It’s about putting others above yourself. It’s about being flexible, willing and being open minded and open hearted. Serving others even if you have to go the extra mile. Matthew 5:14 “If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.” Working and doing things together peacefully despite the different personalities. Showing love, grace and mercy to others. Romans 12:18 “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Learning to give and take. Care for those who are sick or are poor. Ultimately, we are all human beings and mistakes are inevitable. In doing so, we may have to give up or wait patiently for what our hearts and flesh desires. Dying to ourselves daily. I want to end with Hebrews 13:16 “And do not forget to do good and share with others, with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
Please pray for peace, health and growth among the team.
I am still fundraising. Please prayerfully consider donating towards my trip. I have 19% left. Any amount will help. You can also Venmo me @Yumei-a.
