test

Wow, already two weeks in Guatemala! Week 2 started off with a training in the worship room. The main takeaways were to learn to meditate on God’s word. For many people (including myself) it is often a duty, but we need to turn it into a discipline and then turn it into delight. When we learn to meditate, we will learn to obey. This is very convicting and I felt that I need to do better. After the training my team and I went back to prayer mountain. Most of us were looking forward to going back after being in the loud and busy city for the weekend.

On Tuesday we hiked 2 miles to a village nearby where we did house visits. We visited 3 different families. My teammates who spoke Spanish were able to communicate with them and sometimes it was translated and sometimes not. After visiting with each family we were able to take turns praying for them. During the house visit, I struggled with not being able to understand what was being said because I don’t understand Spanish. But then I believe that God saying just being in the presence is also important. It also made my heart sink to see what some of the families are struggling with. I wanted to give and do more for them. Then we went back to prayer mountain and I shared my testimony with my team.

We got squash from one of the family we visited

Wednesday, we had a missionary team that came from South Carolina and we had the opportunity to worship with them and do manual labor with them. Also we got the opportunity to visit with them. After they left one of my teammate’s got to share her testimony.

Thursday, we shared a good news with a family. The good news was that the family will have their own house. The Dar Par Dar miniseries received a generous donation to where they will buy supplies for the family and build the house for them. It was such a blessing experience and I felt such a joy for them as well. After that my team and I went to Antigua and we worshipped and Gods presence was felt during the whole duration of the worship. We stayed the night at our host’s home.

Patzun Village my team will help build a house here!

Friday, Sabbath day. We drove back to prayer mountain for sabbath. During sabbath, I listened to worship songs, read the Bible and took some time to listen to the Holy Spirit speak to me. (To be honest, I didn’t hear anything). I was tempted to run even though it would be running up the hill, I came to learn that I don’t need to run on sabbath day. I need to be content with not running as much as I would like. Instead, I went for a prayer walk.

Saturday we came back to Antigua and we settled in and I did one on one with my squad leader. Then in the evening we worshiped and listened to one of our squad mates give the message. Then we did an activity where we listened to God speak to us. The activity did show that God can speak to each one of us and sometimes it is spot on or sometimes it is wrong.

It gets so cold in the evenings that my team and I pretty much sit by the fire every evening and into the night.

Love,

Yu-Mei
