I have had the pleasure of traveling across Albania for the past month. Traveling is something that i find to be enjoyable and I love to find exciting things to do while I do so.
If you ever find yourself traveling to Albania here are a few places I would recommend
The capital, Tirana, has a lot of history. Walking down Main Street and getting a bite to eat at a restaurant that serves traditional Albanian dishes such as Byreks is a lovely way to begin your day. If you are interested in history they have a great museum.
Elbasan is the third largest city in Albania and is a quiet, slow, and down to earth place. They have a castle you can walk into and have a delicious coffee in. They also have a road that is said to be walked on by the Apostle Paul.
Vlore is a beautiful ocean city with beautiful beaches full of sea life. There is an excursion offered there to go snorkeling which I recommend. The snorkeling includes a boat ride to three different areas to swim two of which are in caves. The other is in an area once used during a war in 1988 now a cove of rich history and beautiful views. The beach offers multiple food options such as gyros, pizza, and crepes.
The town of Pogradec is a beautiful place to rest and walk about the town. You can see Macedonia across the lake. The mountains that surround it are breathtaking and the food is delicious.
Berat is the oldest city in Albania and has a lot of historical value to the people of Albania. I am going here on Tuesday so I will let you know if it is a good trip and worth your while
