My time in Medellín has been pretty good so far, I’ve gotten to hike, eat new foods, work with kids, give out bread to the homeless, pray for people, cut vegetables for the kitchen, and do LOTS of cleaning! I have a real bed here and a bathroom with a real shower!! I worked in kids ministry last week and they were some of the sweetest kids I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting. This week on veggies I’ve done a lot of cutting. It’s been pretty fun to be honest, I love the people who work in the kitchen and I like working with my little team. Although I’m home sick, I know God knew what he was doing when he put me where I am now. I don’t think I could bring myself to go home right now even if I wanted too. I have gotten so many new experiences already and it’s only month two, I’m only on country one and I feel the absolute need to keep going no matter what. I’ve learned over the years that God puts you in the places he needs you to be most. It might not always be fun, and you might get tired, home sick, cold, and hot, but he will provide no matter what. It doesn’t matter if you’re in Gainesville Georgia and your tent floods, or if you’re in Medellín Colombia and you have to pack into a metro with 500 other people. You will be okay because God says you will be. Don’t miss out on the adventure of a life with God because you’re scared of what you might miss at home. If you feel the call to go, then answer. In the wonderful words of Gandalf “The world is not in your books and maps, it’s out there.
