Naturally, people have a lot of questions when we tell them about about the World Race. We thought we’d post some of the most common questions and answers here to provide more clarity!

What will you do with all your stuff?

We plan to sell some stuff that we don’t want to keep long-term (so be on the lookout for that) but the majority of our stuff we will put in a storage unit for the year we’re gone. Family will keep our cars and maintain them while we’re gone.

What will happen with your jobs?

Since we’ll be gone for a year, we will need to quit our jobs. Even though we love our jobs and are sad to leave, we both feel at peace about this decision. We are trusting that since God is leading us on this journey, He will provide new jobs when we return from the race.

What will happen after you come back? Where will you live?

Great question. The short answer is: we don’t know. As of right now, we plan to come back to Cincinnati but we have no clue what jobs we’ll have, where we’ll live, etc. Like we said in the last question, we understand this is a big question for a lot of people. We have thought about it a lot, but there’s just no way to know and no reason to think about this when it’s so far in the future. We are trusting that God will make it clear where He’s leading as we are on the race and coming back home. We do have a great church to come back to and have some family (Adrianna’s aunt and uncle) in the area so we know we’re not alone!

Who will you be going on this trip with?

The World Race typically launches squads of about 30-50 people between the ages of 21-35. Each squad is broken into teams of 6-7 people. The squad travels to each country together but each team might be split off to serve in different areas or ministries together.

While married couples do go on the race, it is primarily single individuals that we will be with. We’re hoping for another married couple to be on our squad but it is more likely we’ll be the only ones. Our hope is that God can use our marriage as an example (for good or for bad lol) for those on the race with us who are not in that season of life yet.

What will marriage look like on the race?

This was probably the biggest question we had going into this. Before applying, we talked to a married couple who had done the race previously to hear their experience and get advice. The advice given to us was to be very intentional. There is the opportunity to have weekly date nights and a monthly date weekend. We also can advocate for our own room wherever we stay. Plus, we get to serve together and do life together without other distractions for a year! In some countries, due to cultural differences, men and women will serve separately. We’re excited for this unique opportunity to serve God together for 11 months and can’t wait to see the ways in which our marriage is challenged and grows during this season.

How are you going to pay for the trip?

We’re trusting that God is going to provide all $38,000. We know that God provides, especially when He calls His people. We’re praying and believing that God will bring people to partner with us financially. We don’t want to go on this journey alone. While friends and family may not be able to join us physically, you can join us in building the Kingdom through prayer and financial giving. We also plan to do a couple fundraisers throughout the next few months, so be on the lookout for ways you can support through that!

So far, we are 19% ($7,630) fundraised!! Several friends and family have been quick to support us early on. We’re already blown away by the generosity of the people in our lives. It’s been so encouraging and so fun catching up with everyone. We’d love to connect with you! If we haven’t connected yet, reach out to one of us and we’ll set up a time!

To our anonymous donor, thank you thank you thank you!!! Hopefully you read this and know how grateful we are for your support.

Why choose the World Race and not another organization or program?

We’re familiar with Adventures in Missions because I (Adrianna) have gone on a mission trip and have led several high school short-term mission trips with this organization over the past year and a half. I also know several people who have done the World Race so I’ve heard a lot of really good things about it. Another draw is that it’s one of the few experiences like this that focuses not only on making disciples but also being discipled. We also like that we get to go to multiple countries (rather than staying in one location for a year) to experience different cultures and types of service. We believe this will help us to better learn what our specific giftings are and if God might be calling us to a specific place or group of people. Regardless, we get to experience a lot of the beautiful places and people God has created.

Let us know of any other questions you have! We appreciate all of the prayers, love, and support that we’ve received already. We can’t go through this journey alone and we’re so grateful for each one of you coming alongside us!
