Hello Friends and Family!!

I have officially been in Eswatini for a week and I wanted to take a moment to share about what I’ve been up to so far. I’m working in children’s ministry at a local care point from Tuesday to Friday, and Mondays are for ATL days (Ask the Lord). Being involved with the kids is something I really love, so I feel super blessed to be doing this.

Ministry in Swaziland

Eswatini is absolutely beautiful! The culture is rich and the people here welcomed us with such warmth and hospitality. Our group is split into two teams, each assigned to different care points. I’m excited to be part of a team that’s focused on serving the kids and families here. It’s such a great way to share God’s love and kindness with those in need.

At the care point, we get to hang out with a large group of kids each coming from different backgrounds. Their energy is contagious! We’re not just providing food and support; we’re creating a safe space where they can learn and grow. The other day, we did a skit about Jesus calling Peter out to walk on water, and seeing the kids laugh and smile was just the best.

One of the coolest parts of this experience is getting to know the local culture and what the kids need. We’ve been learning about their traditions, which helps us connect with them better. Recently, we did a house visit where we brought food and helped sweep the yard, and as a thank-you, the family gifted us a live chicken!! It was such a sweet gesture, and it has really opened my eyes to how important hospitality is here. Plus, it gave us all a good laugh trying to figure out what to do with our new feathery friend! We’re also trying to speak Siswati with the kids—it’s tough, but we’re giving it our best shot! I have had quite a few moments where I butchered a name or greeting, and everyone had a good laugh. By sharing local stories in our lessons, we’re trying to make the Gospel feel relevant and relatable to them.

Going forward, I’m excited about developing a strategy that addresses the kids’ needs and also helps prepare them for the future. I see some great opportunities for discipleship and community involvement, I believe that by building relationships and understanding their challenges, we can make a lasting impact.
