Hi Everyone!
I’m in shock as I’m writing this, and if you’re a family member or friend I’m sure you’re in shock right now seeing all this too. I went from being a full-time Family Services Coordinator at Ronald McDonald House Charities to now packing for a Mission Trip leaving May 24th to Italy all in just less then a month. The experiences I had at my time at RMHC I will always remember. Our mission was to help relieve the burden from families with a sick child, but through helping them they impacted me in ways that changed how I handle situations and perceive life. They taught me how to perceiver, handle emotions, forgive, and much more. Leaving RMHC make’s me sad but how this program builds leaders, teaches the word of God, and ministers to others I couldn’t pass it by.
The week before I found this opportunity I had a long conversation with God, and in all honesty I was very frustrated. I was on my knees pleading for his help and might of yelled a couple times. I felt like I was a hamster stuck in a wheel going around and around. The days were going slow and I felt this emptiness in me. It’s hard to explain because I liked what I did for work I mean those families were a huge part in the development of my passion to want to help others. So as you can tell this was a very all over the place conversation with God that night and per usual he didn’t give me the answer on a silver platter, so I asked him one last time for a sign and then said Amen.
Fast forward a week I make the deadline for this trip barely 24 hours before it closes, switch my course of study from Economics to Communications, no longer work for RMHC, and am on the phone begging my Grandma to watch my dog for a couple months only weeks before I leave. I can’t believe I found this amazing opportunity and I owe it all to God. Maybe that hamster wheel I was stuck in that I mentioned to God was just his way of testing to see if through that empty feeling I’d still have faith in him.
Recently I also had my first meeting with the people I’ll be joining on this adventure. It was amazing getting to know and pray with all of them and I can’t wait to see what God does through each of us on this Mission/Leadership/Academic Trip! We all will be flying into Italy where our journey begins and then over the course of a couple months we will travel throughout different cities within Italy. We will be mentored by a variety of different leaders, that have also planned for special guests for us to learn from as well as an abundance of opportunity to minister with things such as teaching English to children, assist in baptisms, serve at food banks, conduct outreach to the community, and much more. Though to be able to do this I have to fundraise $6,000 so at the top right of the browser you will see “Support” then once you click it, it will redirect you to my fundraising page. No matter how much you donate though I hope you come back to check out my future posts to see what I’m doing in Italy!
