So much has happened already between a run in with a mouse in the Paris airport, to being startled by a scorpion in our bathroom and staying in places that if my mom saw she would personally fly all the way to Cambodia and drag me home with her. Two weeks in and I already have loads of stories I can’t wait to tell! But after three days of travel consisting of an eight hour flight from Atlanta to Paris with a seven hour layover in Paris into a thirteen hour flight to Singapore and then barely making our two hour flight to Cambodia, spending the night in a Hostel (checking that off my bucket list!) then a two hour drive to Chhuk, Cambodia we made it to our ministry site! Tuesday was our first day of ministry in the site we’ll be for the next three weeks. Each week we have four days of ministry. Ministry days start off with teaching english classes and end with soccer practice. (if I come back to the US a pro at soccer you know why)

The Lord is already challenging and growing me here and making me rely on Him and not my own strength. My biggest struggle is trying do things by my own power instead of relying on my heavenly father to help me and guide me through things. The other day I was reading my devo the verse that went with it was Matthew 11:29-30 “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” I love how the Lord just gives you the right reminder at just the right moment! Between moments of exhaustion from an eleven hour time difference to be pushed out of my comfort zone I’m reminded of how gentle our Creator is and how the best rest is found in Him. I should allow Him to control and direct me.

But more about ministry: we are working with the YDC which is a YWAM base that has different teams in and out of the base that teaches the kids english and plays soccer with them. Even just in the first week I can see the huge blessing these kids are and the joy they carry!
