My name is Brooklyn Killingsworth and I am so excited to join the World Race! Here is a little bit about myself and how I came to know Christ!
I grew up in a Christian family. I have four brothers and one amazing sister! Ever since I can remember my parents took us to church and taught us about Jesus. One night when I was six years old I was laying in bed thinking about the things I had learned at church and decided I really wanted to have a relationship with Jesus. So I talked to my mom and she told me what I would need to pray in order to become a Christian. I prayed that Jesus would come into my heart and forgive me of my sins. After that prayer I knew I was a Christian, but I was six and couldn’t fully understand my faith yet. For the next few years I kept going to church and was very involved in Awana and choir. I was being poured into constantly by other believers, but at this point I was having many doubts about my faith. I wouldn’t be able to sleep because I questioned my faith every night and wondered if I was truly saved. I would put on a smile with my friends, but on the inside I was struggling with so many doubts. One night it got so bad that I couldn’t stop overthinking and questioning, so my parents came in my room to comfort me and try to calm me down. I talked to my dad about what I was feeling and he told me about how Jesus gave him direction when he was deciding where to go for college. He was worried about his future but Jesus opened a door for him and he knew Jesus was real. That story really stuck with me and since that night my doubts have been far less and I know for a fact that I have a relationship with Jesus.

A big part of my testimony is a summer camp called Sky Ranch. If you know me, you know I probably talk about Sky Ranch a lot 😂 But that’s because it’s a very important part of my life. I have seen God change my life and others lives while at Sky Ranch. I was a camper for 8 years and now get to work at camp as a lifeguard! The summer before my sophomore year of high school I went to the Colorado location, Horn Creek. One of my counselors, who also led my Bible study, was named Norma. The way she taught the Bible to my group was just so unique and she was very passionate about God’s word and living out her calling as a believer. Norma and I had many amazing conversations throughout that week and at the end of the week I asked if she would be my mentor and she said yes! Since then we have been able to do Bible studies together and she has helped me to grow in my faith! She is now a missionary which is so cool because I’m getting to see my next steps in life through her! God has given us both a passion for missions and I’m so excited that we both get to live that out for His glory!

The Lord gave me a an amazing Gospel community this past summer while working at camp! My faith grew while I was at camp and so did my passion for missions. When I got home, I started thinking about college and was planning to go to DBU, but God had other plans and I’m so glad he did! I will be going on the World Race gap year mission trip starting in August and I cannot wait to see how the Lord will work! One of my favorite quotes is by Jim Elliot. “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” My life here on Earth is fleeting, so I want to be a vessel for Christ and make disciples of all nations. Please pray for me as I prepare for this trip and while I am on the trip! Please pray that the Gospel would reach many people and that God would use me for the glory of His kingdom!
