Hello friends and family!!
As we prepare for a 20-hour bus ride to Nelspruit for debriefing before heading to Eswatini, I’m reflecting on the incredible work the Lord has done in the past two weeks at Beats and Books. It’s been a wild ride filled with challenges and amazing encounters, and I can’t wait to share how God has been moving in our lives!

Ministry at Beats and Books

During my time at Beats and Books, I quickly realized that communicating the Gospel across cultures comes with unique challenges such as language barriers, religious backgrounds, and trust Issues. We struggled with connecting with the teens, who were initially hesitant to open up. Many of the kids viewed us as outsiders, which made it difficult to engage with them especially as they would often be speaking their native language around us. However, through prayer and patience, I felt the Lord guide our efforts. He reminded me that building trust takes patience, and I leaned into that understanding as I sought to engage with the girls.

Recognizing their struggle to share, we organized discipleship meetings with a few girls at a time where we could explore topics that mattered to them. God prompted us to ask the girls to write down their questions anonymously, which led to a powerful moment of vulnerability. They opened up about betrayal, forgiveness, and gossip. It was clear that the Holy Spirit was at work, softening their hearts to share their burdens.

During our group discussions with all of the girls, we talked about these topics and were able to share a bit of our own testimony. I felt the Lord moving among us, providing comfort and understanding in those moments. Afterward, in one-on-one conversations, I had the privilege of listening and offering support. It was evident that God was using our time together to heal and encourage these young women, fostering a deeper connection with each of them.

As I listened to their struggles, I prayed for wisdom on how to communicate the Gospel in a way that resonated with their experiences. As well as listening to the Holy Spirit, knowing when to talk and when the girls are just wanting someone to listen to their struggles. I shared biblical principles related to their concerns, emphasizing God’s love, forgiveness, and the importance of community. Seeing the girls engage with these messages was a reminder of how God can use our struggles to draw us closer to Him.

Through this journey, I’ve experienced profound growth in my own faith. God has taught me the importance of being patient and listening. As well as seeking the Holy Spirit throughout my conversations. He’s shown me that ministry is not just about delivering messages but about being present with others and reflecting His love. Each interaction has deepened my understanding of what it means to walk alongside someone in their spiritual journey.
