Let me tell you the story of New Texas, GA. (aka our campsite)
Founded August 31st, the flag of our town was raised by the boys of the small town of under 40 people. There are 6 other guys in New Texas. Caleb (TX), Christian (TX), Brandon (IA), David (OH), Carter (CO), and the youth leader Lee (GA). The boys have positioned themselves close to the fireplace in a neighborhood cul-de-sac labeled with the men road sign. The girls live in the rest of the little clearing in the woods sporadically placed in an unorganized fashion uncharacteristic of my conceived notion otherwise. Hammocks stretch between most trees on the side, with some even stacked 3 high, which has already led to some fun experiences.
I brought s’mores materials and it has led to some awesome fireside conversations about God, Theology, and even things that might’ve been divisive, but brought us together, like politics. (I know, crazy right?) We have learned that the “big Gretch walk out” song is a bop and most people would call themselves independent who wish that politics wasn’t an angering topic. A problem we think leads commonly to bad debates. I have seen and heard many testimonies already and more and more show themselves every hour! For example, the boys have all collectively decided to read Acts because we have all been given signs to.
Caleb, Christian, and Brandon had all had it suggested to them and I had found it in my heart during a revival service to start reading Acts while just sitting outside. As Caleb and Brandon walked out of the doors intent on reading and they asked me what I was reading, which of course I was reading Acts. Excited already we opened our bibles to see that Caleb had a gum wrapper cross on the first chapter of Acts. Reading along, Christian finally came out to join us and when we finished the chapter, we read the prayer Caleb’s mom had written for him. That prayer had been almost word for word the prayer that Christian had been praying over people which was just so cool how everything tied together. After we finished the first chapter, Carter and David joined us, and they couldn’t deny the word of God and joined in with us. This was last night, September 5th.
Tonight, I think M-Squad, the citizens of New Texas, GA will be chilling around the fire singing to God, roasting apples and playing dress to impress on Roblox. But for now thank you so much for reading. I believe last I checked I’m at 60% raised so if it is in your heart to give right now it would be much appreciated. I also need prayer so pray for me. I will be praying for you.
God bless you all on your journey.
