And just like that we finished training camp and are on our way to South Africa! Last week was full of so many good moments with our team. The biggest thing that stuck out to me was the community that we experienced in many different ways. We got the opportunity to go evangelize and pray with people in Gainesville and also had a revival night full of baptisms and worship.
One of the crazy things we did this past week was hike Mt. Yonah which was exciting but not that easy. With our full backpacks, tents, and personal stuff we started our hike that in total was 1,453 ft elevation gain, 4.1 miles, and 2 hours of hiking! We all had no problem falling asleep that night:) When we got to the top we set up our tents and made dinner. Well, our dinner consisted of frozen hotdogs roasted on random sticks we found in the woods, but they tasted great. We got to go to the overlook and look at the beautiful view and I even got to bring out my guitar later that night and sing a few worship songs while looking at all the lights. It was very peaceful and we had a great time with our team. Then bright and early the next morning we woke up at 5am to hike back down!
Our week was filled with team time, worship and sessions, scenarios for other countries, squad wars, and one of our highlights was the laundromat where we got to do our laundry before we headed to South Africa 🙂
Our week ended with a revival night with many people getting baptized and then we got to worship and praise the Lord together! What I enjoyed the most this week was the time spent with our squad and growing in friendships with them. God designed us to have community and I have loved getting to spend quality time with our team and getting to experience that!
We packed up all of our things and then started on Saturday traveling to the airport to start our 72-hour travel time to get us to where we are now! I can’t wait to share all the exciting things from this week! Until next time:))
