The time has finally come! I’m writing this as my family and I make our way down to Gainesville, Georgia. These past few weeks have been filled with hard goodbyes. Leaving was incredibly difficult, but I’m so excited for what lies ahead. I can’t wait to meet everyone in my squad, grow closer to God, and be the hands and feet of Jesus in these next nine months.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported me during this preparation season. Whether you bought gear, contributed financially, prayed for me, or offered words of encouragement, I wouldn’t be here without you.
A special thanks to everyone who wrote me a letter, and to my amazing Aunt Wendy for organizing it—that was the best surprise ever!
Tomorrow, I’m headed to training camp at the Adventures in Missions base. The purpose of training camp is to prepare us for life on the mission field and everything we might encounter. We’ll be diving into the Word, focusing on our relationship with Christ, participating in various practice scenarios and team-building exercises, and even doing domestic missions in Georgia!
As of now, I’ll be there for 5-6 weeks. It won’t always be easy, so I would greatly appreciate it if you could join me in prayer during this time!
My prayer requests
- That God’s peace and joy would fall on me at camp.
- For my squad and team as we navigate being away from home and growing with each other.
- For God to use me! Not only for those who I am serving, but who I am serving with!
- That I have an open heart to the Lord and what he is teaching me.
I put some of the pictures from all my goodbyes below, I will miss everyone so much.
With love,
Ashlyn
