Wonder and awe.
They strip us of our pride, they make us a little more human.
Everyone stood there, looking and staring at the same building, the same man made structure and I couldn’t help but feel small. We all wonder, we all search for some type of “truth” but we stand in wonder at any form of beauty. All can see and sense true beauty. You can’t ignore it. It’s a humbling thing standing in front of true beauty and this Cathedral was crafted by a human, intentionally pieced together over years and years.
But it makes me think, we as humans are drawn to beauty, so what a beautiful gift it is that our God is a God of beauty. He created it all for us, intentionally crafting it all together for our own desire. Beauty humbles us, its makes us small. Our creator is a God of beauty, and before Him we stand humbly.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.”
-Ecclesiastes 3:11
Thank you Lord, for being a God of beauty, for letting us dwell with You in beauty. It creates intimacy, and strips us of our pride. We stand humbly in Your presence and humbly in Your creation, in full awe of your glory and realness.
“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.”
