Traveling day! We’re on our way to Kenya!

Training camp was fun. I would describe training camp as a cross between 2 of the different types of summer camps I have been to, church camp and Boy Scout camp.

We went on a hike a couple of days ago. It was a short but quite difficult hike for a first-timer. I wasn’t able to carry my big hiking pack the whole way up but I made it over halfway before the terrain became too steep for me to safely continue to carry my own pack; so on the last leg of the trek I carried a smaller pack from one of my squadmates. On the way down, in the morning dark, I was able to carry my big hiking pack all the way down, even though I slipped on the loose gravel near the top! Thank you God for not getting injured! My squad is very sweet and helpful, too!

We also went to the local town square to practice actually sharing the gospel. My group met a sweet Jewish girl and a very done, homeless veteran that was so nice.

We also did some training scenarios. In one, the airport lost some of our luggage so we had to share tents and some people had to share sleeping mats (I was one of them but God allowed us to both fit on the sleeping mat!). In another scenario, the whole squad had to share a small indoor sleeping area. All the scenarios were interesting and relevant!

God bless y’all! God Is Good!

We’re off to Kenya!
