Wow! It’s only been one week, but God is already working in some incredibly ways! I am so blessed to be here. To be apart of this squad. To have an opportunity to serve others. To be learning so much about God.
Training camp is amazing, hard, fruitful, challenging and strengthening my faith in so many ways. The goal of training camp is to prepare us for the mission field. Through team bonding, sessions, worship and fun scenarios, we are being prepared to live fully for Jesus. You might be wondering ‘what are ‘scenarios’?’ and that’s a great questions. Scenarios are challenges that our leaders give us that could happen on the field. For example on our third day here, we packed up our bags and ‘the airport’ lost half our bags. That’s one way to bond as a squad, sharing clothes, tents, sleeping pads and everything else. We like to call it trauma-bonding! Another scenario was house visits. We went to a “house” and got to share the gospel with someone who has never heard the Good News before. (I cannot wait to share the Good News with the nations! I may not have the words, but may the Lord soften people’s heart and use me in unexpected ways!)
But through it all, K-squad has been a squad of joy! “the joy of the Lord is your strength” Nehemiah 8:10. Durning our women’s fitness challenge we sing, durning bucket showers we laugh, when spiders crawl into our tents we unite as a team! (Thankfully no snakes yet!)
Our days are filled with sessions, worship, squad time, team prayer (Squad is the big group of 30 racers, and teams are smaller groups that I will be doing ministry with!), amazing meals and if we’re lucky a nice bucket shower! Bucket showers may sound rough, but in all honesty I love them!
Worship has been one of my absolute favourite moments here! The worship here is so pure and Spirit-led. I’ve seen healing miracles and have felt the presence of the Holy Spirit so evidently.
Before I left I was praying over the songs “Fresh Fire” by Maverick City and “Set a Fire” by Will Reagan. I prayed that God would light a fire in my heart and that I would be bold and courageous with the truth that he has given me (Joshua 1:9). I cannot count the amount of times that ‘fire’ has come up here. In the teaching, in the worship, and just simply in my squad. My squad is on fire for Jesus!! God answered my prayer and every day I can feel this fire growing within me. I pray with everything in me that this fire will never leave and that everyone I meet in this next year will see Jesus in me.
Thank you everyone who continues to read my blog and is supporting me in this journey! I am so thankful to say I am 90% fundraised!
Please continue to pray for me and my squad!
