Hello!! My name is Ethan Sausen, I am 18 years old, I spent the first half of my life growing up in Southern California, and now have been in central Washington for the past 8 years! I am LOCKED IN with doing this upcoming fall and spring semester with the WorldRace!!!
This last spring, I went on a Mission trip to Mexico for 10 Days. Me and about 35 others drove 1,180 miles through the span of 3 days to build a house for a family in need. After we finished building, I stood in front of the house, sun sitting high in the sky, kids laughing, a mom crying tears of joy. I thought we came to serve a family, but it was GOD who was working on me. That 10 day trip changed everything. I came back with open eyes, a new heart, and a growing desire to go deeper with God and live a life that reflects His love in action
Before Mexico, I didn’t know what my faith looked like, or even felt like. I had wanted to go on the trip to find out what I wanted in my life, and to find my purpose, but I had no idea it would be so much bigger than that. On our way down, on the night before heading into Mexico, someone on the trip had given me a letter. The letter consisted of a lot, but the part that hit me the hardest was the end. It says “Over these next days, I pray your eyes will be open to see God around you, your hands open to serve others, and your heart open to receive Gods love & salvation. If you feel a pull in your heart, lean into it, for God is worth your trust! You are ABUNDANTLY LOVED!!!” The moment I read that, and I felt an immense pull in my heart, and I just wanted to start crying. I had never felt any kind of feeling like that before. But I knew, in my heart, that that pull, was GODS love. And ever since that moment, my purpose changed.
That moment lit a fire in me, and I couldn’t ignore it. I wanted to know what was next. So, I started to pray on it. Then I had remembered I knew a guy who had gone on the WorldRace before. So I talked to him, and then I signed up, had my interview, and got accepted!! Now, I get to travel to 5 different countries over the span of 8 months where ill be living on mission, loving people, serving those in need, sharing the Gospel, and letting God continue to transform me from the inside out.
I always knew, deep down this was it. This was the next step. I have always loved to travel, and to do things for others. But now, after God has shown himself to me, this was my purpose all along. To serve others through him, and teach about the Gospel, and the WorldRace gives me a chance to do exactly that.
With that, just as Jesus relied on the support of others during his time in Ministry, I too will need to rely on the generous giving of those around me. That total cost of my trip is $17,900. Please prayerfully consider support in finance and or prayer if you feel called. Any amount would be a great contribution and would mean the world to me!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. For believing in me, for shaping who I’ve become, and for continuing to walk with me as I step into this next chapter. Your support, whether through encouragement, prayer, or giving is something I do not take for granted. Lastly, I want to leave this for whoever is reading this, it is my favorite bible verse. Romans 8:38-39 “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Thank you all again.
