As Christians, we are set apart from the world, called by God with a distinct mission. Unfortunately, we will face many trials, and life won’t always be easy. God asks us to trust Him and maintain our faith during these times, which is often easier said than done.

This week, God has shared much with me on this topic through His word, and I’ve been able to share those insights with people here in Nicaragua.

I was especially encouraged by a woman I met during a prayer walk. She spoke of her suffering—never knowing where her next meal will come from, uncertain whether sickness will leave her home, and dealing with financial instability. Yet, despite her circumstances, she had no doubt about God’s goodness and remained faithful amidst her constant struggles. It was truly inspiring!

A couple of days ago, we received heartbreaking news for our squad. In just a week, we will leave for Guatemala, and once we arrive at the AIM base, our squad will be split in half, nine hours apart, for the duration of our time there. I can’t express how difficult this is for us; we never imagined being apart so soon, and it changes everything.

We have two choices: lean into the enemy’s manipulations or choose to view this through God’s perspective and cultivate genuine faith. Importantly, this choice begins now, not when we separate!

As I process and pray about our future, God has been gracious in helping me see the good that will come from this situation and the blessings we’ve already experienced.

God has already shown His goodness to us. We are becoming more intentional and present in our time together (even though we’ve always tried to be). He’s revealed so many ways this will ultimately benefit our squad. As challenging as it is, I can find joy and excitement in what the Lord has in store for us!

Together as a squad, we will face this trial and encourage one another to trust in God’s plan. He will teach us to find joy in hard times, using our experiences for His glory. We will grow immensely from this!

This week has been enriching! We hosted a Beauty for Ashes event, engaged in prayer walks, farm work, dump ministry, hospital visits, went ziplining and much more! God has been using us in unexpected ways!

Please pray that the people here will remember how God reached out to them during our time here and that they will seek Him. Pray that our squad will be prepared for Guatemala and the incredible ministry we will engage in there. Lastly, pray that this final week in Nicaragua is our best yet—that we will be bold and fully committed! Thank you for your constant support and prayer!

So much love, Maddy!
