Last week of actual training camp is finished! It is so wild that it’s been three weeks already. Tomorrow (Monday the 23rd) my squad and I are headed off to Mississippi for domestic ministry. It’s so amazing that we have the opportunity to show God’s love here in the States.
The gap year squads are the only ones left on base before our launch on October 7th. Mealtimes and sessions have been more empty, which is a little sad but also nice because we’ve had more intimate moments together with L and K squad.
We were supposed to hike Mount Yonah this week, so half of us packed up our tents to share with another person. When we were halfway up the mountain it started raining SO hard, so sadly we didn’t make it to the top. Such a beautiful hike though, and it definitely made me miss Colorado mountains. Also halfway through the week during campus cleanup we saw a breathtaking rainbow towering directly over the training center. Wow, it was such a beautiful reminder of Jesus’s promise and his love.
Yesterday we got to do our laundry at a laundromat for the first time. I will say it was very chaotic, but it was great to be able to get out. Plus we got Chick-Fil-A after, which I chowed down really fast. Also last night we had an awesome event put on by our “Beauty for Ashes” girlies (a women’s ministry role in each squad) and we got to dress up. It was the first time I put mascara on in 3 weeks so that was lit and also so fun to take pictures all together.
I’m so grateful for every single person on my squad. I love seeing how everyone’s individual gifts are being used and I’m really looking forward to digging deeper and getting to know them more. I had some awesome conversations this week and I’m so honored to be hearing people’s testimonies. I know after this week I’m going to come out with some wild stories, so I’m pumped to see how God leads us.
