When the plans I had last year fell through, I found myself uncertain about what I wanted to do moving forward and what God might have for me next. I began to look for opportunities to do something new and different. It was suggested to me by a friend that I ought to look into spending several months overseas on a mission trip. Although I’ve always been interested in foreign mission work, it hadn’t crossed my mind to consider doing such a thing. However, prompted by her suggestion, I promised to do a bit of research and just see what was out there. After looking into several different opportunities I decided that the World Race three month trip to Africa in August 2025 was the one I was most interested in. The timing works out quite well with my schedule at my current job. The trip begins just after our busy season ends, so I was able to be approved to be away for the duration of the trip. The more I heard and prayed about this opportunity, the more I decided I actually wanted to go and became increasingly excited about the prospect of doing this!

I’ve always hoped for the chance to go overseas to help with mission work for a time and to show Christ’s love to the people there. Sometimes, I just need a little push of encouragement to actually pursue the things that I want to do. God has graciously put people in my life who will do just that! This trip will run from the very end of August through the end of November. While there,  we will be working with children from low income, often single or no parent families in Eswatini, a country in Africa strongly impacted by HIV/AIDS. I love that we will be working with kids as I have come to find more and more that I have a passion for children’s ministry and showing Christ’s love to struggling children both practically and spiritually. This was one of the reasons that I chose this specific route. We will also be spending time in South Africa, doing various projects and jobs for the local people. I was told that a lot of the things we will be doing there are a bit harder to know ahead of time as to what exactly they’ll be, but that we’ll certainly be put to work! I’m looking forward to being able to spend time getting to know and work with the people in the countries we will be serving in!

I know that August still seems like a long time away but as the time draws nearer I would appreciate prayer for my preparation for this trip!  Specifically, that I would  be able to raise the financial support needed. Also that I will be able to train someone well to cover for me and take care of responsibilities in the office while I am gone, and that while on the trip God would use me as a blessing to all those around me. I plan to continue to post here as I gain more information about this new adventure the Lord has called me to.  I will also be posting regularly once I am on the mission field in order to keep friends, family, and supporters updated as to what the team is working on!!
